Friday frrriiiiiidddaayyyyy.

Friday, usually I would spend my night doing miscellaneous fun things with my bros but unfortunately due to some progress report nonsense, they can't. So that's cool. I left my car parked in the lot beside my house. I'm sort of wondering if it has a ticket on it. Would I be surprised? No. No, not really.

So, two days ago I beat a game that had just come out called Prototype 2. Perhaps you've heard of it. I would like to start out by saying it was literally the best game I've played in 2012 and I'm not sure what exactly could top it in the future. You take the role of soldier James Heller. Which is a bit different from the first game, as the first game you play as a crazy ass scientist that got superpowers by unleashing a virus on NYC named Alex Mercer. Essentially, Mercers virus killed Hellers wife and he was a bit pissed, intent on killing Mercer. You start out in a tank, which is shortly blown right the fuck up and you are the only surviving member of your team in the highly infected Manhattan area. You find out the one who blew your shit up was Mercer himself, and you kindly go slit his throat. Now if you know anything about the first game, you would know that a knife couldn't kill Mercer. Never. He knocks you back, then prods you to follow him. On your little walk, a few of the new enemies attack you. You kill a brawler with a knife. Which is a little ridiculous, as they're giant gorilla like infected, but I can't really complain. It was badass. A more notable experience is running away from a Behemoth. A giant-ass new type of enemy that will fuck you up. Real bad. After all this, Mercer finds you and infects you, turning you into a super-powered crazy fuck. And after a rather painful realization and an escape from a lab, you are now running the streets of NYC, with a small truce between you and Mercer.

I was okay with this. Mostly because I really liked Mercer in the first game. The gameplay in the game is absolutely incredible. The first game times 100. It's just so great, the design is so perfect, the combat is so engaging. I'd recommend it to absolutely everyone. So yeah... go play it...

Music Fight.

So it's a pretty good length into April now. Wrote my last post the day before my birthday. So now I'm 18. Woohoo. I can buy tobacco, porn, and I can gamble. All the "Finer" things in life. It's been a bit boring around here, and april seems to be dragging on harder than I ever would've imagined. I guess with college in the future and highschool's end also close by, I'm a little anxious for the change. Aside from all of this, let's get to where I'm going with this.

So as I've explained in one of my older posts, I'm in a band. Netherwind is not very well known, and we have hardly 100 likes on facebook. Yet, as we get further onto the local music scene I'm starting to notice a lot of hostility. A lot of "my band is better than yours" and "you guys fucking suck, we're so much fucking better." I just can't understand the reasoning behind all of it. It's fascinating seeing these bands just rip each others throats out over trivial things. So, for example, my last show I played with a band named Neon Guillotine which is another local band from around here. As shows go, I met the members of the band, as they met us and they were some cool guys. Like honestly, they were a bunch of nice people who simply wanted to share their music. Two shows ago I played with a band called Jonestown, a local band from Syracuse. Now, they did get a new vocalist since that show, but they were all pretty cool people. And as I've mentioned before their drummer used to be in a band with me. However, their new vocalist verbally attacked Neon Guillotine shortly before our show, telling them they suck and how he fucked NG's vocalist's girlfriend/fiancee I DON'T know exactly the context. All I know is it was harsh and uncalled for and overall unprofessional. And the drummer even had the nerve to send me a message saying, "Good luck playing with Neon Guillotine guys. I heard they're pissed that our vocalist fucked so and so." I just couldn't believe it. How is that relevant to the show at all? Or why would we care? It seems like the local music scene around here has deteriorated. Not totally, there's still decent people out there who haven't lost sight of what's important. (Ex: NG and NW) It seems like most only care about getting famous, and you know what I say to that? Who the fuck cares! Not me! The reason I'm even in NW is because I enjoy what I do and I have fun playing our music for people. That's what being in a band is all about. Sharing the music with others. Not putting down other bands and trashing their music. Music is something that should be respected, doesn't mean you have to like it. And I know I'm ranting a bit but jesus man lol. People need to wise up.

And I'm not saying I haven't called a band shit before, we all have. But I will not deny musical/lyrical talent when I see it. And it just so happens, that most of the popular artists these days, have neither of those things and are in fact,

Total. Shit.
